I love the city that I live in, but I think I'm a quiet beach town gal at heart. Don't get me wrong, I'm so grateful to live in a walkable city next to a body of water, but there are days where it feels like it's impossible to hide from the noise and general hustle and bustle.
There's a tiny part of the waterfront where I can pretend for a few moments that I'm back down the shore. It just requires standing in a very specific spot with my hand blocking part of the city skyline. It'll do!
I totally get this. I live close to water and a path I can follow to a park where the ocean glimmers (sometimes seethes) below. It's not until a military plane or a border control helicopter drones past that I realize how close I am to the city which, itself, alternately sparkles and seethes.
