January's Riso Print!
Every month I send out a print in the mail to my Patreon Riso Club subscribers! I make these little guys on a risograph machine here in my apartment. Each color is printed one layer at a time until they blend together to create the print that you see below.
This month’s print is based on an illustration I made back in October. Below is the digital version for comparison! (I always enjoy noticing the the little differences.)
My people-pleasing self has a hard time with speaking up when I want something, or when I’m uncomfortable. I have difficulty saying no. I have a hard time sending emails about important career stuff because I don’t want to be a bother. I have a rather large tattoo that I don’t love because I was afraid to tell the artist that the design wasn’t what I expected. I can go on and on!
I always tell myself that I’ll say something next time. But will I? Wouldn’t it just be easier to start standing up for myself in the tiny situations first? That doesn’t feel easy either.
I don’t know if you can relate to this or not, but at the very least, hopefully this little illustration can be a reminder to be kind to others and to ourselves.
More on the printing process is behind the paywall :)
