"I'D LIKE YOU TO LIKE ME" Graphic Novel Sample Pages!
In case you missed the announcement when I posted them to my socials, I’m writing and drawing a graphic novel! It’s called I’D LIKE YOU TO LIKE ME, and it’s set to publish in Fall 2025…or maybe Spring 2026? I’m currently working on my first draft of the script, but I imagine that I’ll go through a million drafts before I’m ready to actually sit down and draw anything.
I had drawn up the below 10 sample pages when I was thinking about pitching the story as a mixture of autobiography and fiction. It’s now a purely fictional story since I’ve made up a lot of the story details and characters. I very much doubt that these pages will look anything like how they do now, if they make it into the final version at all! But I think they encompass the general feeling that my book will have, and that’s what matters in the end.
Putting these sample pages out into the public has been fairly anxiety-inducing for me. Some of the story is loosely based on my own life in the sense that I grew up in a very Christian home and worked at a Pentecostal summer camp as a teen. I know that a lot of people I grew up with (including much of my family) might be concerned about the content of the book in regards to how it approaches Christian faith, but I’m hoping the honesty of my book will lead to some healthy conversations.
I’m incredibly non-confrontational, so we’ll see how this goes. YIKES.
