Cell phones from 2008!

My graphic novel, I’d Like You to Like Me, takes places in the summer of 2008. A few scenes in the story involve some texting drama, so it was fun to reach back into my memory to remember what the hot cell phones were at the time. I was almost 16 that summer and I had a light pink Motorola Razr (my very first phone!), which felt a little uncool because it was a few years old, I’m pretty sure.

Does anybody remember the LG Chocolate? I always wanted one:

I’ve also had to guess at what texting screens might’ve looked like back in 2008! I’ve tried to do my research, but it might not be perfectly accurate and that’s okay!! (That’s what I tell myself every time I spend too much time watching Motorola Razr demo videos on YouTube.)

I’m about 130 pages out 275 into drawing this book, which means that this week I’ll hit the halfway point. I feel nuts! But not in a bad way :)
